plan

The Circuit is arranged into three Clusters of Churches with a Superintendent Minister who is not linked to a specific church but oversees the whole Circuit. Each Cluster has a group of Ministers who share responsibilities for those Churches. Evening Services are usually held in one Church per Cluster, with everyone invited to join. Quarterly, we come together as a whole Circuit to share in Worship together. Click on the tabs above to find out more about the Ministers and Churches belonging to each Cluster.

Trinity Project

Trinity Methodist Church on Newport Road remains a thriving centre of community action and Christian worship. Although the former Methodist congregation "ceased to meet" in May 2012, the building has stayed open and, in particular, is continuing to serve the needs of refugees and asylum seekers as it has done for several years.

The Cardiff Methodist Circuit has now established "The Trinity Project" which aims to develop this work and make Trinity sustainable as a community focus of mission and service. The Project is run by a Board including Circuit Stewards, former members of Trinity Methodist Church and representatives of the local community. The Project works closely with the groups who use the building to provide support and friendship to asylum seekers, including Space4U and the Welsh Refugee Council.

In December we learned that funding had been awarded from the Welsh Government's Equalities and Diversity Fund which will enable the project to be supported by paid staff from April 2014 to March 2017. A Project Coordinator will be appointed, who will provide support to the user groups, enable Trinity to be open more often and provide a wider range of services. The Project is also being supported by the local Communities First team and Cardiff Community Housing Association, so there is every reason to hope that it will be successful.

The continuing support of the Methodist Circuit and local churches is vital to this work. As well as the use of the building, Methodism has provided loans and grants which have enabled the work of the Trinity Project to get underway and bridged the gap until the Welsh Government funding is received. The Project Board has developed a business plan and is now exploring potential sources of capital funding to improve the facilities at and make Trinity more attractive and functional as a community centre.

Several congregations still worship regularly at Trinity, including Urdu-speaking, Malayalam-speaking and Ethiopian. Other regular users include the Cardiff Camera Club.
